We rely heavily on volunteers; we simply couldn’t deliver our work without their help, enthusiasm and commitment!
We are particularly recruiting for new Outreach Volunteers and Adult Learner Support Volunteers. Adult Learner Support Volunteers must be able to use British Sign Language to offer one to one support to learners in our classes who have hearing difficulties.
Outreach
Volunteers support tutors in our outreach classes by offering additional support to small groups of learners and one to one help with individuals. You will need a driving licence in this role as you will to drive our vehicles to transport equipment to support agencies in Manchester, and help the tutor to set up and dismantle equipment. Outreach courses include computers (using laptops), cookery and creative writing.

Adult Learner Support

Reception
Based on our main reception desk, volunteers welcome visitors to the centre, deal with enquiries and handle telephone calls as well as basic administrative duties such as filing and photocopying.

Mentoring
Volunteers can complete further training to become a mentor. Mentors peovide one to one support and encouragement to leraners who are considering progressing onto further learning, voluntary work and employment.

General Maintenance (around the education centre)
Volunteers are involved in general maintenance of the education centre which involves painting and general DIY duties.
