I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 20 years ago, and it led to lots of problems for me – having to close down my business, getting into debt, and losing support from my family. I wanted to turn my life around and tried to find about local colleges but it was scary and intimidating. That was when I heard about Back on Track.
As soon as I walked in I knew it was the kind of friendly place I wanted to be and signed up for a computer course. In the first session I was relieved to find out that I wasn’t the only one who had never switched on a computer before.
Within a year I had got an IT qualification and was getting help to think about applying for jobs. I ended up going to London for an interview for a government job – my confidence was just soaring!
The guidance and the supportive atmosphere at Back on Track has been just priceless. I’ve realised that best way forward for me is to get better qualified so I’m now doing a Computer Aided Design course at the Manchester College.
