Back on Track

Back on Track is a Greater Manchester charity, aiming to change the lives of adults through learning and skills.

We provide education and mentoring to adults in Greater Manchester. We work with ex-offenders and those who are recovering from problems such as substance misuse, mental illness or homelessness. We run a busy education centre in Manchester, and outreach courses in hostels and day centres. There are new courses starting in January 2012, including introductory vocational training in catering, social care and retail.  What we offer

Until November 2009, our charity was called ‘NEARIS’ and our education centre was called ‘MERC’. We changed our name to ‘Back on Track’ in order to give out a clearer message about who we are and what we do.  About the charity…

Back on Track receives funding from the European Social Fund for our work to support ex-offenders into voluntary work and employment. In October 2011 we were delighted to host a visit from the European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. More about Laszlo Andor’s visit…
